Be Aware - 3M have stopped making the 8835 Disposable Dust Mask
3M have stopped making the ‘old’ 3M8835 disposable dust mask for which a number of members of the University were face fit tested by the Safety Office et al.
This means that when you no longer have a stock of the ‘old’ style 3M8835 masks they will need to change to alternative mask, which in order to be legally compliant will need face fit testing for each individual who needs to use the ‘new’ masks.
The ‘old’ 3M8835 was replaced with the ‘new’ 3M8835+.
The ‘+’ mask is a different design, having no metal nose grip and a completely new face seal and the use of a 3M8835+ mask very definitely requires a new face fit test.
The tests conducted with the old mask were done over several years and unfortunately the Safety Office is unable to offer a service for re-testing the considerable number affected. Therefore if the masks are still required you will need to make alternative arrangements, ie, use a trained departmental tester or consult a commercial supplier such as ARCO etc.
