Information for students about the Staying Safe at the University of Cambridge (an introduction to Health and Safety at the University), formerly the Postgraduate Safety Course

Currently, this course is only open to new postgraduate students in science and technology and certain others. If you are unsure whether you should be attending, please ask us by contacting the Safety Office.

Student Invitation for October 2023/24 (except Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Chemistry, Engineering and Physics). 

We expect you to attend this training unless you are formally excused by your Department or Institution. For information about granting excusals, see our Excusals Policy. Your Department or Institution will tell you if you have been excused from attendance.

All the UK Research Councils regard health and safety issues as an essential part of training requirements for research students. You can gain credits for Transferable Skills Training by attending this Safety Course and other courses provided by the Safety Office.
